About the Speaker: Michelle Girasole, founder of the RI technology brand, FreshMaps, has been a digital storyteller for over 2 decades.  After a lengthy career in marketing communications as a local partner of email marketing platform Constant Contact, she decided to switch gears after the pandemic.  Girasole combined her love of history with mobile app technology, to create a series of ‘digital learning maps’ which get people out in the world to the places where history happened.

Since early 2024, Michelle has been collaborating with the Battle of Rhode Island Association - as well as many local historical organizations, like the Gen. Nathanael Greene Homestead Association - to create a collection of maps that tell the stories of Rhode Island’s significant role in the American Revolution.  She is pleased to present the “Revolutionary RI History Hunt: Greene/Coventry experience” at this year’s birthday celebration.

About the History Hunt:

This FreshMaps History Hunt is a scavenger hunt-style experience that tells interesting stories of General Nathanael Greene, his wife Catharine, their contributions to the war effort, as well as sharing facts about Spell Hall and the Homestead property.  This self-guided walking tour takes about an hour to complete.  Guided by their smartphones, participants will walk to pins around the property map, watching videos about the Greene’s then answering trivia questions and puzzles to earn points.  Yes, there will be prizes!

After a short presentation, guests will be invited to demo the app, learn more about the Greenes and test their knowledge about our state’s role in the American Revolution! Learn more at FreshMaps.us/events [freshmaps.us]
