NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
TO AMEND THE TOWN OF COVENTRY CODE OF ORDINANCES, 2008
PART II GENERAL LEGISLATION,
CHAPTER 217 TAXATION
The Coventry Town Council will conduct a Public Hearing to consider proposed amendments to the Town of Coventry’s Code of Ordinances, Part II General Legislation, Chapter 217 Taxation by adding the following sections under Article VIII.
NATURE OF PROPOSED AMENDMENT:
The amendment would add the following sections to Chapter 217 Taxation: Section 2-17-29 Legislative findings; Section 217-30 Definitions; Section 217-31 Petition; Public hearing required; Section 217-32 Findings and determinations of the Town Council required; Section 217-33 Procedure for adoption of Agreement; Section 217-34 Renewable energy resources; Section 217-35 Agreement prohibited.
DATE, TIME AND PLACE OF HEARING:
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. This meeting will be convened in-person in the Council Chambers at Coventry Town Hall (1670 Flat River Road, Coventry, RI 02816) and will also be available for public participation telephonically and using Zoom video conference technology to allow timely and effective public access to deliberations of the Coventry Town Council.

AVAILABILITY OF INFORMATION:
A draft copy of the proposed ordinance may be examined or copied at cost during regular business hours in the Office of the Town Clerk (Town Hall, 1670 Flat River Road, Coventry, Rhode Island 02816).
APPROVAL, AMENDMENT, ALTERATION:
The proposed amendment of Chapter 217 may be altered or amended prior to the close of the Public Hearing without further advertising, as a result of further study, or because of the views expressed at the Public Hearing, provided that any such alterations or amendments must be presented for comment in the course of the Public Hearing.
If approved, the amendment will take effect on September 23, 2025.
